Biography

Thanks for visiting my web site. Dorchester County is a great place to live and offers one of the highest quality of life experiences in the South Carolina low country and my goal is to maintain those superlative characteristics.

I have a great concern for primary, secondary and higher education in the Charleston-Berkeley-Dorchester tri-county area and will always be attuned to any assistance I can provide for the education of our students. I also have a keen interest in insuring smart-growth of our area, especially through proper land-use planning and in promoting economic growth of the area that produces jobs and employment for our county residents.

My business and professional experiences have given me a unique perspective of the challenges that lie ahead for our children, for our families and for our community. My desire is to bring a new generation of leadership to our county that offers innovative and sensible solutions that apply to Dorchester County concerns and issues.

I am a U.S. Army veteran, a graduate of Western Carolina University with a B. S. in Business Administration, an FAA Licensed Private Pilot and have had extensive business management experiences with Texas Instruments, Inc., Moore Business Forms and Planning Research Corporation (PRC). I have lived in North Carolina, Germany, New York and Virginia before moving to the Summerville area in 1981. I currently consult with corporate clients involved in Internet application technologies.

I have served for three years as an Honorary Commander of the 437th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron of the 437th Maintenance Group/Charleston Air Force Base for better community relations between the US Air Force and Dorchester County.

My current Dorchester Council District 4 constituency is committed to insuring that Dorchester County services are delivered at a very high level with both friendly and courteous treatment and without having to raise the taxable millage rate for businesses and homes. During the first six years of serving the County, I have had the privilege of assisting residents in resolving hundreds of issues and concerns. My attendance at Dorchester County Council meetings and events has achieved a 100% attendance record and I am currently serving as the 2007-2008 Chairman of the Dorchester County Council, Vice Chairman of the Council of Governments (COG) and Chairman of the Regional (COG) Land Use Planning Committee.
